One of my nieces brought her dog to her parents’ home for Thanksgiving. She is a lab/retriever mix of some sort. They trained her for retrieving, but the first time the nephew-in-law took her hunting, as soon as the first shot was fired, she took off running back to the farm house. Luckily she remembered where it was. The dog now stays home while her owner goes hunting.
Cute pix Muffin. I don’t think the doggies will be offended, I’m told they don’t read well. Now, I must be off and make some brunch for Mr Persi. I’ll be back later. Byee for now.
It’s been a fun day at the computer.
My Christmas tree is up, but there are other chores to do.
I am logging off for a while. Just in case something I don’t agree with gets said !
It was so funny watching all the cousin dogs and cats while we were up at mom’s. Mal was the only cat who came to visit, but he copped an attitude right off and immediately took the plum high napping spots. The dog situation was more complex. Mom’s got Bella, a cocker spaniel. She and Mitzi had a couple days to hang before the rest of the crowd showed up. Wednesday afternoon we added Shiloh (indeterminate large shepherd type), Maddie (chow mix) and Miles(rat terrier) from one brother and Jasmine(lab mix) and Smokey(spaniel/terrier mix)from my other brother. Bella was a good hostess, mostly. Everyone got along pretty well, considering the varying sizes, ages and personalities involved. The biggest problem we had was they all seemed to want to go nap in Mitzi’s crate at one time or another. This is a problem, as Mitzi is pretty easy-going but that crate is her happy place. My mom can actually tell if Mitzi is barking just to bark or if she’s raising hell because someone is in her crate.
@muffin at 10:26 pm – seriously, i always leave the 8 pm to midnight slots open. that way muffin, persi, laura, fat charlie, msmolly, larue, and anyone else has a place to put stuff. also, if a breaking news or sudden inspiration post comes up from ANYBODY, just let me know and things can be shuffled around.
the topics system isn’t a straightjacket, just a way for me to organize my undisciplined mind…
No, and I need to. Shiloh is a gorgeous dog, she’s huge but a giant mushball. Smokey is adorable, the sweetest face ever-he’s got freckles! Bella is a little porker, she looks like her eyes are all squinchy from smiling.
Stopping by to say hello and goodbye in a bit. Been watching football off n on and went to the new James Bond movie. *sigh* I didn’t care for the camera work – too choppy and imprecise during the action scenes, but I luuurrves Daniel Craig. He is such a fine 007.
@madmommy at 10:49 pm – I never liked Sean Connery all that much. I think I was too young and he was too old for my taste. I liked Pierce Brosnen a bunch – he’s so yummy to look at but Daniel Craig is so physically perfect. And I love the chemistry between Daniel Craig and Judy Dench.

There’s probably something going on psychologically, but Sean Connery is teh hot as far as I’m concerned. And he’s hotter now than he was as Bond. Same with Patrick Stewart )Capt. Kirk in Star Trek NG. Meow!!
@LoudounLib at 11:02 pm – OMG! No wonder those dancers look like my mother. That song was from 1966. I remember it, though. (which is why I called Spookums that. No harm intended, Betsy. )
Gnome-Daniel Craig. Hubba hubba! he might just change my thinking that Sean Connery is the best James Bond evah.
Three words:
“Bond. Barack Bond.”
Can you see it…
can’t find the dayam picture, but it was a comment here right near the end of the election captioned “Obama, because no way mccain could look this damn cool!”
LOL! It’s funny to look back at all that from the 60’s. I have a pic of my mom and me, when I was about 6 months old in late 1960; she was a dead ringer for Jackie Kennedy, except for the crazy glasses!
I wouldn’t go so far as brain damaged. Not the brightest bulb in the fixture, perhaps…
He’s never going to hear the end of this, which is probably a good thing.
Well, our holiday plans are much closer to being finalized than they were 4 1/2 hours ago.
If USC beats UCLA next Saturday and ends up playing Penn State in the Rose Bowl, we will be breaking open the piggy bank and heading over to the ticket brokers.
It’s unfortunate that the question on college football fans’ minds – could Oklahoma’s offense score on USC’s defense — is unlikely to be answered. Alas, the winner of Bama – Florida will be in the championship game (against OU, IMO, unless something very weird happens).
Given that under new head coach and First Brother-in-Law Craig Robinson, the Beavers run a version of the Princeton offense, I wonder whether Oregon will score more points against Oregon State in basketball than they did in football tonight.

Just an old hippie phart who goes thru his vinyl once in a while . . .
I could go on for days about Paul, Elvin, Mike and keys player Mark Naftlin, bass man Jerome Arnold, sticks man Billy Davenport and later on, Sammy Lay.
And yer welcome, glad to know others still know of and appreciate all those cats did for the music . . . monsters, all of them.

Oh wow! I forgot about that. That is sooo cool. I was rooting for the Beavers, because they haven’t been to the Rose Bowl in 40 some odd years, but now that you remind me. . .

Even given my glee at the bucket of ass-whooping the Tide gave Auburn today, I am deeply concerned about next Saturday’s game against Florida. Good luck to you and the Trojans next weekend. This BCS thing is so crazy-making, I’d love to get the powers that be, lock them in a room, and start knocking heads until they get a playoff in place. Immediately.
That Princeton offense can certainly put up some gaudy numbers
Larue, I’m convinced that I was born too late. If I’d been around earlier than 1960, I would have so totally been at Monterey, Woodstock, and all that. Love that vibe!
Well I really dropped in here tonight to say that I won’t be around much, if at all, in the coming week — later today my friend Steve is arriving from England to stay for a week, so we’ll be running all around in Dee Cee, the Northern Neck, Richmond, Charlottesville and wherever else we find ourselves. I’ll try to peek in every now and then
And, despite the fighting, neighborhood stores remained open for business throughout the day, while crowds of curious onlookers came to within some 50 meters of the building to get a better look at the battle. No police barriers were erected, and other than a few baton-wielding policemen, no effort at all was made to keep the onlookers at a distance.
It is still not clear when the Nariman House terrorists killed their captives, but initial findings indicate that at least some were killed immediately after the terrorists took over the building on Wednesday night.
At 9 P.M. on Friday, shortly after the Indian forces finished clearing the building of explosives, the Israeli representatives were allowed to enter and examine the bodies. They did so to the sound of thousands of Mumbai residents cheering the soldiers who were leaving the scene.

Have a great time! has he been here before? I’ve only done the DC tour once and it was a quick day trip. I plan to take the madkiddies soon. The big kid will love the Smithsonian museums.
MM, he came out here three times between ‘03 and ‘05, and I reciprocated three times after that. He really loves DC, but hasn’t seen any of the museums yet. That’s on our agenda for sure!
Yes, the big kid will love the museums too. I hope you can come here sometime; the American History museum has just reopened after a renovation and it’s supposed to be pretty kewl!

You make sure you take him to the Birchmere, if it’s still open, and hear some GREAT blue and new grass!!! Or any where else he can hear it!!! Enjoy!!!
Yessir, the Birchmere is still alive and kickin’ — and that’s a great idea, thank you!
It’s moved a couple of times over the years. My first visit was when it was still in the A&P shopping center on Arlington Ridge Road. The current location is pretty sweet.
But then, I’m so old I can remember going to the 930 Club when it was still at 930 F Street, Northwest.

Patrick Stewart was Captain Jean Luc Picard in ST: NG That’s from my generation of ST, along wtih DS9 in its peak. Although i did grow up seeing the TOS cast in a series of movies starting with The Search for Spock, and possibly The Wrath of Khan in theatres. I also saw the TOS on endless rerun as a kidlet as my mom adores the original cast.
I got my own love of the dynamic (and one of the things that spurred my love of scifi too) from watching it with her, and those movies. I’m no trekkie, but i can at least keep my cast members fairly straight in my head. I just don’t have every single thing down in it the way i do anime. I’m also drooling over the brand new trailer that just turned up for the series ‘reboot’ with their backstories, and the younger cast. Needless to say i’m DROOLING over the eyecandy, and the story looks fun.
awwww!
Good collection, muffin.

so, spookeleh, how do I sign up for a slot?
@muffin at 10:08 pm – Muffin, you have administrator powers. Just overwrite something.
Cute pix Muffin. I don’t think the doggies will be offended, I’m told they don’t read well. Now, I must be off and make some brunch for Mr Persi. I’ll be back later. Byee for now.

my son is posting obscene drawings to his facebook. only saving grace is that he’s not all that good at drawing. oy!

Is Plaxico Burress brain-damaged, or what?

Hi Burns.
yes
@burnspbesq at 11:11 pm – My thought exactly. Maybe some hottie asked him if that was a d*ck in his pocket and he pulled out his gun by misteak.
I wouldn’t go so far as brain damaged. Not the brightest bulb in the fixture, perhaps…

OK, time to go finish my latest Faye Kellerman novel. Unfortunately her characters are not quite as hot as Craig Daniel.

G’night Gnome, sweet dreams.
Leg damaged. Not brain damaged.
He took a loaded weapon into a club, and accidentally shot himself in the leg. Leg damaged.
But that don’t count the empty shell of a head where his brain SHOULD be. Apparently, that didn’t grow so well in his lifetime.
‘Kin phool . . . . . another punk thug wanna be who thinks his sport money entitles him to be a gangsta just like in the videos.

A few minutes after 9 P.M. on Friday, 48 hours after two terrorists first burst into the city’s Chabad House, the first Israeli representatives were finally allowed into the building to begin the process of identifying the dead. A 12-hour battle to recapture the building had collapsed entire walls and virtually destroyed the stairwell. On the fourth floor, the bodies of the terrorists, who had been shot by Indian commandos, were neatly laid out.
…..
