Sorry Bumz. It’s been a rough week at work and health-wise. So instead of my long-promised preview of the Minnesota Democratic governor’s primary, i bring you Lolcat.
Cute kitty! My kitties sleep on my laptop when they can, and when it’s not on (or missing), silly Maggie tries to figure out how to sleep on my monitor… she figures it works for the one, why is it so hard to do that on the other!
Hope NAFG is getting rested and feeling good and getting ready to be the Head of House!
I’m off to mom and dad’s for dinner – Denver Niece is visiting until Wednesday. Be back later.
I just got the chance to watch the NFL video from earlier. Troy just doesn’t look right to me without his hair flying. I know he only wears it down when he’s playing a game, but still….RAWR!!! Drew’s not hard on the eyes either
LSU got beat on the road by Ole Miss, who, BTW, had a protest today by the KKK. Seems that the band traditionally plays a particular song, after which the spectators yell “the south will rise again”. For obvious reasons this is about 60 different kids of offensive, so the college President said they just won’t play it anymore. SO of course the kluckers are protesting that it is a slap at their “southern heritage”. Someone needs to snatch these idiots up by the scruff and remind them that it is the 21st Century, the Civil War ended well over 100 years ago, and they lost. Get the hell over it
Going out to our cabin to make up the couchbed for the madkiddies, madhubby has already turned in for the night
@ madmommy:
The last 2 minutes of your LSU game was very exciting (that’s all I caught). The best onside-kick play I think I’ve ever seen. And either Ole Miss has jet-powered blitzers, or your LSU line couldn’t bench press a limp kitteh.
Cassie’s route below. Any beach bumz (or firepups or Trexicans) along the route? I already emailed TJ. Cass and host-granny will actually stay with my folks Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
@ gordon:
Dude. LSU isn’t my anything In fact, we were watching the game while waiting for our dinner to be ready and the little guy started chanting “LSU stinks!” My baby, I’m just so proud! And yes, LSU and their fans think quite highly of themselves, regardless of whether or not they have got the game to back up the big talk. Ole Miss actually has a pretty decent team, despite being the doormat of the SEC for a long time. Houston Nutt is a good coach and he could build a contender there. I loved that they totally could not manage to get a play off with a tick remaining on the clock. It’s not like you practice that sort of stuff or anything
@ gordon:
Because we were driving I only got to listen to teh Alabama game on the radio, and only saw a portion of the 4th quarter. Bama played a cream puff team, because they’ve got the Iron Bowl against hated in-state rival Auburn up next. I just hope that the Saints game is on the teevee up here of I’ll be forced to listen to it on line over WWL. MadGranny just got a new giant screen LCD for the living room, just in time for that great Thanksgiving tradition, an all-day football/turkey coma
Hi, bumz. NDFG, get plenty of rest. When do you go back to work.
MM, thought of you this afternoon. After food kitchen, I met a friend for movie and dinner. We saw The Blind Side and really enjoyed it. (Another sports report from Sharonlee.)
Gnome, when I do the most cleaning is when I am procrastinating.
Betsy, bebe is cute.
And I second the suggestion that Cassie find earplugs.
@ sharonlee:
They had a premiere the other night in NOLA, with a benefit afterward for Warren Easton HS. Sandra Bullock has donated a boatload of time and money to that school since the storm to get it up and running again. She is the madhubby’s crush. We have a deal-if she ever shows up at the door to sweep him off his feet he’s allowed to go
@ newdealfarmgrrrlll:
Meh. Only if I can tie him down and shave that thing off his chin Mine changes around, lately it’s been Johnny Depp. He was hot when he first burst onto the scene, and those pirate movies…yowza!!
Time to turn in. The Social is ready for in the morning, and thanks to madgranny I’ve already got an idea for next week. I’d put it backstage for a filler piece but her computer works my nerves and I don’t want to risk breaking the blog by going backstage from this ‘puter.
I’m here! I just got home! Had to fix Mr. Gnome some supper, because he didn’t find enough snacks to eat at the poker game. We recorded the Texas game, so he is watching it now, eating a late dinner. I don’t think I will be able to last much longer. I may peek at the score on line and go to bed.
So – college. They have this thing called interdisciplinary where you can have 2 or 3 majors and not decide on one thing.
Also, Virginia is really pretty. I get to see the beltway around Washington DC tomorrow morning but I don’t know how much of the actual city I will see.
Peanut Butter, is there a way to put an up & down button on the text box on the mobile interface? Or else I will use up 100 comments by myself in just one sentence.
@ freckles cassie:
I haven’t seen PB around in awhile, so you may have to go it alone. I have an iPhone and have the Beach House modified for that. It works pretty well.
Yes, Virginia is beautiful, but it is still the South. You need to get north of the Mason-Dixon for college.
@ Texas Betsy:
Sorry we woke you up. I think Cassie was wearing her ear plugs and listening to her iPod at the same time, so she couldn’t tell how much noise she was making.
Whoa!! Go Harry! “”Do not let history show that when given the chance to debate and defend your position, to work with us for the good of our country and constituents, you ran and hid. You cannot wish away a great emergency by closing one’s eyes and pretending it doesn’t exist,” Reid added.”
I got busy messing with doggies and kitties, and poof, half hour went by. Gnome went to bed. Did Cassie go too? In Virginia it’s really early – I hope you get some Cassie – quite a pace you’ve got going on your college visits. Good on the ear plugs. They do work well!
I’m up for a bit more, but I’m finally getting myself.
back up for a bit. not really cold or flu symptoms, so i’m not contagious! Just extremely weak, shaky, & exhausted. I think it is too many months of overtime catching up with me.
Cassie, way cool! Virginia is beautiful, i loved the skyline drive, DC is amazing with all the museums (my late mom-&-aunt-in-law lived there). I concur some of the other bumz, go to school in the north! The whole eastern seaboard is pretty mild. Compared to, say, Carleton (Paul Wellsonte taught there) or St. Olaf. The better schools are mostly north, and you’re a way desirable student.

Those are symptoms, not just tired type ones either. Hope you get some good rest, and fight off that bug that’s chasing you!
I think it’s very cool that Cassie is getting the chance to go for this look-see!
Gnome and I wrote on Doctor Kernan Manion the other day – the Camp Lejeune psychiatrist fired for trying to alert the military of potential dangerous crazy acts by totally stressed out and sick service men and women.

Virginia!
The Virginia’s~
I sure hope somewhere in yer exploits you get the love for the grass, a mando, fiddle, banjo, or dobro.
Cuz The Virginia’s are FULL of great music that should touch yer soul, and shake yer bootie.
Dang I hope you get exposed to Da Grass, and fall in love with acoustic made music.

Time to head out. I’ll see you bumz later tonight.

@ madmommy:
Well the only time Ole Miss gave the the LSU QB more than 1.2 secs to get rid of the ball, there was no one to get rid of it to!
In my neck of the woods, ME was ahead of NH well into the 3rd Q before the the universe righted itself, depriving me of any need to celebrate.

and who’s your secret deal? *waggles eyebrows* I know Brad Pitt also does a lot in NOLA.
@ madmommy:
Then he will certainly enjoy the movie.

Night, MM. Glad the trip went well.
And good night, other bumz. I am fading fast, having gotten out of bed early today for the food kitchen.
We had 331 people today.
@ madmommy:
i’ll cede your point. Random facial ferrrets are … strange. I have a Johnny Depp Pirates mother’s day card on the wall of my cubie
Good night madmom. G’night sharonlee.
No one home? Ok, I will go find myself a bedroom.
g’night bumz
hi from Virginia!!!! I want to move into a dorm right now and start college tomorrow. This is going to be the coolest experience ever.
I bought two different kinds of ear plugs and I charged my iPod also as backup. And this hotel room is like 2 rooms and I am on the sofabed.
I’m here! I just got home! Had to fix Mr. Gnome some supper, because he didn’t find enough snacks to eat at the poker game. We recorded the Texas game, so he is watching it now, eating a late dinner. I don’t think I will be able to last much longer. I may peek at the score on line and go to bed.

Hi Gnome.
Pellora! NDFG! CT! Anyone wanna play?
@ freckles cassie:
I haven’t seen PB around in awhile, so you may have to go it alone. I have an iPhone and have the Beach House modified for that. It works pretty well.
Yes, Virginia is beautiful, but it is still the South. You need to get north of the Mason-Dixon for college.
** rubs eyes **
who’s playing piano at midnight and making all that racket in the driveway?
oh, hi cass. go get some sleep so you can enjoy the entire east coast tomorrow.
and no more caffeine at night. you have entirely too much energy.
Hi Betsy!
Catch!
ok, ok, I will go back to reading the worst political propoganda book ever and maybe fall asleep from boredom
@ freckles cassie:
You are not reading Going Rogue, are you???
@ Texas Betsy:
Sorry we woke you up. I think Cassie was wearing her ear plugs and listening to her iPod at the same time, so she couldn’t tell how much noise she was making.
I am
myself.
@ gnome de plume:
no. Generation Change by Jayan Kalathil. Pro-Obama propoganda for 8th graders
I just got here – in time to play !
cookies better than caffeine anyway!
@ Pellora:
Cassie is having too much fun and is too excited about college to sleep.
Oh good. You can take over. I am pooped.
Looks like a neat book, if the title is what it’s about
The Senate mustered 60 votes, the exact number required to end a Republican filibuster against consideration of the bill, in a straight party-line vote.
I think
Whoa!!
Go Harry! “”Do not let history show that when given the chance to debate and defend your position, to work with us for the good of our country and constituents, you ran and hid. You cannot wish away a great emergency by closing one’s eyes and pretending it doesn’t exist,” Reid added.”

Been there Done that! I’m glad – most of success at college is in the excitement and the continued excitement to learn and experience Everything!
G’night Gnome.
Thanks for the email today. Pretty and cool.
@ Pellora:
G’night.
Pellora the book feels like it is written with a middle school audience in mind, and then it talks down to them. Just dumb
@ freckles cassie:
Too bad. The title is promising – the idea of it. But you called it propaganda, so it probably is.
And the part about talking *down* to the target audience is more in the line of authoritarian ideology. Doesn’t lend itself to independent thinking.
I got busy messing with doggies and kitties, and poof, half hour went by. Gnome went to bed. Did Cassie go too? In Virginia it’s really early – I hope you get some

Well, here’s some more. At Common Dreams. Dr. Kernan Manion poses for a photograph in his officer in Hampstead, N.C., Friday, Nov. 20, 2008. Dr. Manion a psychiatrist was fired after he complained about conditions for his patients at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., In e-mails shown to The Associated Press, Manion had questioned why the clinic, a series of bug-infested trailers with paper-thin walls, was located near a firing range on the 240-square-mile base.
