It’s always hard for me to pick the most annoying Republican senators when there’s forty to choose from.
@ Evil Dr. Puma:
Confine your choices to the ones on the judiciary committee, at least for today.
Jefferson Beaureguard Sessions. If that ain’t a name made to order for the KKK I don’t know what is. I spent the last week in Alabama, and ole Jeff is the shizzle in those parts. Add in the fact that he’s an arrogant, self-righteous prick, I’d put him in the top ten for this week at least.
I just love this whole meme that white, christian males are the norm, so they therefore cannot have any preconcieved ideas or prejudices from which to base their judgements. And so because they are the default, everyone else is deviant, and therefore suspect. Srsly??
I say D) all of the above. I tried to listen a couple of times, but every time I tuned in there was some stupid white man saying something stupid. Not in the mood.
Come on, EDP, get a login and write a post. Everyone’s doing it, don’t you want to be cool?
Dr P, you have mail.
Pellora, is that music thread ready for publication? Can we set it for Thursday night? I’ll be out then. If not, let me know when.
Betsy, they’re all annoying, as are those racist orgs patrolling the border down south and working on legislation to deny services to illegals and their children.
But they’re all losing, badly. And NOTHING, is gonna help them.
Know why? Cuz they are all dinosaurs.
White, racist, homophobic, misogynous, ignorant dinosaurs.
And their numbers in the general gene pool of USA are dwindling, as the melting pot continues to melt black, brown, yellow, red and white together so that colors appear everywhere you look.
Rainbow.
Should we ignore them? Only at our peril, as they become more and more demonstrative about their existence and the supposed threats to it. They incite, and generate more hate and action, too. But aside from keeping a lid on them, they are dinosaurs.
And we are their meteor.
Don’t let it all get to ya.
Sotomayor is in, period. Today was just kabuki by the Honkie Old Guys so they could excite their base. I’ve heard analysis that today was also to set the stage for future nominations on SCOTUS and in other places, but I don’t think these old farts got much left.
They’ll be annoying, but if we laugh and point at them and ridicule them with the BIGGER picture that really exists beyond their myopia, it will lower our blood pressure and we can focus on things that REALLY count.
Like battling corporate feudalism, and insisting that Obama create JOBS! NOW! LOTS OF WPA TYPE JOBS!
With jobs for the legal and illegals, the dinosaurs will have little to bitch and moan about as they age and pass on to Their Great White Hope And Ascension.
Course, with YOUR governor and his recent Board Of Ed appointment, you got lots of dinosaur stuff to worry about in yer own backyard . . . the nation will fend for itself. YOU need some help in Texas. We progs elsewhere really should begin to think about what we can do for you folks in Lone Star Turf.
G’nite bumz.
I have a bunch of errands to run tomorrow, so may be on the site less than usual, though I reserve the right to live blog an oil change.
Anyone need anything at Marshall’s? Need to use up my $14 credit for the shorts that turned out to be too big.
I could use some cute white sandals, Betsy. I looked tonight while hubby replaced his Rainbow flipflops, but came up empty. We’re thinking of having his old Rainbows bronzed…they’re 20 years old and were sold to him by the guy who started the company.
What I would really like, is to have her ask “if y’all were so very concerned about my qualifications as a judge, why didn’t any of you bring it up during my last confirmation hearing?? You know, the one where I was nominated by George H.W. Bush? And then confirmed unanimously in 1992??” Then I’d like to see her get up, tell the entire Judiciary Comittee to eat shit and die, and walk out of the room.
Yeah, I know it won’t happen. And I should probably work through some anger issues. Also.
I guess what I’m trying to say, big pic wise . . . is that our single biggest need, challenge and hurdle to leap is how to inhibit, reduce, and remake the gross level of income redistribution that’s eradicating the middle class and making us all vassals to the corporate machines who buy and control our politicians.
Solving that will solve a LOT of racist, homophobic and misogynous problems.

No, no, I think yer on the right track. We ALL gotta have hope and dreams!
i’m just hoping for a good night wish or two …..
Good night, Betsy. Uninterrupted, pain-free sleep for all!
Thanks Lea. Now I can go to sleep.
You’re welcome! I wear size 8 1/2.
@ Texas Betsy:
Pain-free sleep, Betsy.
Work has been busy so I haven’t been around much in real time. And the questioning on Sotomayor has been so bad that I haven’t made an effort to live-stream it on my office computer.
And me, the political junkie.
Hiya Beach Bumz! Good night Aunt Petunia. Happy Harry potter day!
@ freckles cassie:
So what exercise do you have planned for the morning?
Off to bed. Have meeting with the new owners tomorrow.
Aloha Ya’ll…! Anybody still around…?
OMG! I can’t be the first Bum up this morning. Everyone else must be out doing secret exercising. I had my alarm set, but I couldn’t drag myself out of bed early enough. I’ve got an appt at 9, so I had better hop to it.
Morning bumz! I missed CT.
* * Why Conservatives Should Be Against Term Limits
Very interesting article, and completely on point, I’d say, except for that ridiculous bit near the end when he claims the left is in complete control of the legislature in CA. ORLY??? But still, I’m interested to see if the right tears him apart over this or what…
Morning.
For those who can’t stomach the overwhelming annoyingness: A Brief Translation of Today’s Sotomayor Hearing….
It’s a tight race, but I have to give Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III the edge. The unctious smile, the beady eyes, the simian ears, the unshakeable belief that only white people are unbiased.
Thank you gordon.
@ gordon:
Thanks for the link, Gordon. Much easier to take than the real thing and it confirmed what I thought I was hearing.
Sarah Palin upstairs.
